Presidency Of The Republic Of Turkey: “FETO can do the same thing somewhere else tomorrow”
Answering reporters’ questions in a joint press conference with President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, President Erdoğan, in reference to the ‘Democracy and Martyrs Rally’ to be held on Sunday in Istanbul, said: “The whole Turkey will be watching it. No one will bring there the flag of any political party. Everybody will wave Turkish flag. We will unite there with the understanding of one flag, one nation, one homeland and one state.”
Holding a joint press conference following their tete-a-tete meeting at the Presidential Complex, President Erdoğan and President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan made important statements of recent developments and answered reporters’ questions.
“MY KAZAKH BROTHER’S CONTRIBUTIONS ARE UNFORGETTABLE”
Underlining President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s important role and crucial efforts in the normalization process of relations between Turkey and Russia, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said: “As you know I will meet with President Putin in St. Petersburg on Tuesday. Delegations from both countries will come together. Our businesspeople will also have talks and hopefully we will leave behind that troubled period and return back to our old days again. My distinguished Kazakh brother’s, our white-bearded wise man’s contributions on this issue are really unforgettable. I once again thank him very much on my own and my nation’s behalf.”
DEMOCRACY AND MARTYRS RALLY IN YENIKAPI
In answer to a question regarding the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s announcement that he would also attend ‘Democracy and Martyrs Rally’ on Sunday at Istanbul’s Yenikapı square together with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, President Erdoğan pointed out that he had sent written invitation to the both leaders and that he attached importance to the participation of the chairmen of AK Party, CHP and MHP in the rally. “The whole Turkey will be watching it. No one will bring there the flag of any political party. Everybody will wave Turkish flag. We will unite there with the understanding of one flag, one nation, one homeland and one state,” the President said.
FETO’S SCHOOLS IN KAZAKHSTAN
Regarding the schools affiliated with the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) in Kazakhstan, President Erdoğan said: “We discussed the issue of schools that belong to Fetullah Terrorist Organization in Kazakhstan. And our Maarif Foundation will hold talks with the Kazakh Ministry of Education. It is of crucial importance that my Kazakh brother Nazarbayev told me that ‘whoever is enemy to Turkey is also enemy to Kazakhstan.’ The Fetullah Terrorist Organization targeted us and our nation and it tried to divide this nation. Of course they did this to us today and they can do the same thing somewhere else tomorrow. This is in their nature. Currently FETO has 33 schools in Kazakhstan. We submitted the entire list to Kazakh officials. Hopefully the required step will be taken in Kazakhstan with the joint work of the Maarif Foundation and the Kazakh Ministry of Education.”
PRESIDENT NAZARBAYEV: “WE WON’T SUPPORT ANYONE WHO WORKS AGAINST TURKEY”
Adding to President Erdoğan’s statements on the issue, President Nazarbayev underlined: “We won’t support anyone working against Turkey. This is not in our interest. We don’t want this. Education ministries of the both countries will establish a working group and inspect the schools. If their connection with FETO are determined, we send back the teachers at these schools and request new teachers from Turkey.”
Recalling that he and late Turgut Özal jointly put their signatures regarding the schools in question with an aim to enable the young of the two countries to learn the language of the other and to establish relations, President Nazarbayev stated that “Kazakhstan will respond to Turkey’s all requests if there are people among them that are engaged in terrorism and that act against Turkey.”
President Nazarbayev ended his address by congratulating the Turkish people for the solidarity they showed in the face of July 15 coup attempt.
